2019 Wreaths Across America

On December 14th, 2019, AFWMF members participated in National Wreaths Across America Day to honor our fallen servicemen and women. Every volunteer who placed a wreath on a veteran’s grave was asked to say the veteran’s name aloud and take a moment to thank them for their service to our country. This year we honored over 250 veterans at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa Kansas. In November and December 2020, you can donate a wreath and we will place it on the veterans grave on 12 DEC. Stay tuned for more details and Follow us on Facebook to stay informed.

Other members of our team placed wreaths at the graves of loved ones to show our gratitude for their service and sacrifice.

Wreaths Across America is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded to continue and expand the

annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery begun by Maine businessman Morrill Worcester in 1992. The organization’s mission – Remember, Honor, Teach is carried out in part each year by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies in December at Arlington, as well as at more than 1,800 veterans’ cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states. The goal was to place a live, balsam fir veteran’s wreath at the headstone of every veteran buried there and spread patriotism and ensure no one is forgotten.

Each wreath sponsorship cost $15, with $5 coming back to the American Fallen Warrior Memorial Foundation (AFWMF). This year we sold 243 wreaths and was able to raise over $1000. Next year our goal is to lay a wreath at all 648 veteran gravesites.
